Coaching is a process in which a coach supports the coachee, enabling them to identify and clarify their own goals and develop their own plans to achieve them. The coach is not an advisor, mentor or therapist. Instead coaching is about creating a productive, focused space for the coachee to explore and pursue their own thinking.
A coaching session takes the form of a structured conversation during which the coachee is encouraged to think for themselves through reflection, attentive listening, skilled questioning and sometimes exercises.
Coaching is ideal for personal development, overcoming ‘stuckness’, dealing with issues and challenges, increasing confidence, changing and/or developing direction.
